An Uneasy Comedy by Aaron Posner.
My wholesale re-imagining and re-writing of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice set in DC among the African-American and Jewish communities during Reconstruction. Much of it in blank verse! I'm proud of the humor, humanity and genuine struggle embedded in this play. It talks about things I believe matter in complicated and uneasy terms.
“...an admirably intelligent reworking of ‘The Merchant of Venice’”
